When I tell people that most of my wardrobe is from Forever21, many often say "I love Forever21, but I never find very much there!" In order to be a successful shopper at this store, I believe you have to be a smart shopper. Here are some of the tips I have to create your best Forever21 shopping experience:
1. Be systematic
Walking into Forever21 can be an incredibly overwhelming experience. The store is full of so many styles, colors and textures that it can cause any shopaholic to overdose. You could spend days aimlessly walking through the store because you always feel like you are missing something. Try to come with a game plan before you reach the store. Look in your closet to see if there is anything that you can immediately think of that you need. This will help you stay focused while you're shopping and keep you from buying things that you don't really need. I might look like a crazy person walking around with a list in a clothing store, but at least I know I'm not going to spend more money that I was planning to.
I work my way through the store in a zigzag formation. I start on the very far side and walk up and down the sections until I make it through the entire store. I don't go back to look at things I've already passed by (unless I need another size). This helps me to make certain that I have seen everything.
2. Try stuff on
Going to Forever21 is like going to a thrift store. There is such a high volume of clothing, and you never really know how things are going to fit just by looking at them on the hanger. I always pick up a ton of stuff, but only end up with 4 or 5 items that I'm actually going to buy (which is perfect!)
Wait to look at shoes and accessories after you try things on. You can't take them into the dressing room anyway. If you have a specific budget, you'll have a better idea of how much money you can spend on extras after you've chosen your clothing purchases. Also, this will allow you to select accessories that match your new purchases, instead of just making blind choices.
3. Be selective
The prices at Forever21 are great, so it's easy to talk yourself into buying something that doesn't fit well or you won't wear. When I'm in the dressing room, I always ask myself if the fit is right and if the item is going to compliment the rest of my closet. If the answer to either of those questions is not a resounding yes, I don't buy it.
I always stay away from the bins around the checkout line. Yeah, the stuff is cheap, but those little extras can really add on to your total (which is obviously why Forever21 keeps that stuff there). Make sure you really need that bottle of nail polish or cute pair of socks... if you don't, put them down!
