They say "home is where the heart is," and that is definitely true for me. As much as I love cities, my heart will always be in a small, southern town. Some might say that small towns are boring; but under its calm, sleepy exterior, the small town has a lot of charm that can't be found anywhere else. The architecture, sweet tea and the rich history are some of my favorite parts of my home state of South Carolina. This weekend, a friend and I walked around a cute, little downtown and had a mini photo-shoot in front of the brightly colored buildings (one of favorite parts about small towns).
I wanted my outfit to mimic the comfortable, familiar feel of a hometown. I don't wear graphic t-shirts often, but as soon as I saw this Thrasher shirt, I knew I had to have it. The design is vintage-inspired and is all too relevant to my life (seriously, Sk8tr Boi by Avril Lavigne was released 12 years ago and I'm still relating to it). I paired the t-shirt with a suede fringe jacket from Forever21 and thrifted loafers. The green loafers add a quirky touch to the ensemble. I love mixing menswear with more casual pieces because it adds structure. The material of the shoes and jacket have a soft and lived-in look, which makes them perfect for a relaxed day around town.
To pull together this easy weekend look, I opted for my go-to high-waisted jeans and gold vintage necklace.
